A simple internet search details his scrapes but now he has swapped St George-Illawarra for life being coached by Sam Burgess, he is determined to make those results sing his praises.
He said: “100 per cent I want to change that. I definitely want to change the narrative about me.
“There have been a few adversities I’ve had to go through and overcome but touch wood, we can have a successful year and that can all change.
“I want to be a strong, dominant forward here and bring some leadership skills with me. I want to guide some of the young players, while being reliable and trustworthy to my team-mates.
“That’s something I’ve had to learn during my career. You know in a team who’s reliable and who’ll get the job done – I definitely want to be someone who can be relied on.”
Musgrove admits he knew little about Super League until he decided to move to Warrington but watching matches after making his mind up whetted the appetite.
And the main reason for heading to the other side of the world is pretty simple, Burgess.
Now his coach, the prop made his senior debut alongside him for NRL side South Sydney in 2016 and he expects much the same from the boss as he got the player.
New Zealand-born Musgrove, 27, added: “Sam’s the reason I chose this club.
“He told me a lot of great things about it when I spoke to him but I wouldn’t really expect anything different from the coach than the player.
“I know what Sam’s about and what he wants, even though it is funny seeing him as I played alongside him.

“I can still have a joke and a laugh with him every now and then but I know what he wants, the best from us and the team.
“He knows what we’re capable of and he cares so much about us, so it was a fairly easy decision for me personally.
“Being with Sam and the system he wants to play fits me perfectly but I hadn’t experienced the cold until yesterday morning (Weds). I think I need to invest in more puffer jackets and things like that.
“However, I’ve been told several times it’s not even properly cold yet. A lot of the boys say, ‘This is nothing.’”
