Wilfried Gnonto next club – odds: Chelsea join Man Utd and Man City in race for Leeds starlet, Real Madrid 5/1

MANCHESTER UNITED and rivals Manchester City look to be tussling at the front of the queue to sign Leeds United starlet Wilfried Gnonto.

That’s the view of bookmakers Ladbrokes, who have the Red Devils as slight favourites to lure the 19-year-old away from Leeds.

Erik ten Hag’s men are the 2/1 market leaders to sign Gnonto from rivals Leeds.

The young Italian has enjoyed an impressive debut season at Elland Road.

Leeds bought Gnonto for a reported fee of just £4million from FC Zurich last summer.

Gnonto has two goals and three assists in the league this season, including a very early goal at Old Trafford that left Man Utd stunned.

Despite his own form, Leeds find themselves in one of the Premier League’s most competitive relegation battles ever.

Their top flight status could have a huge bearing on where Gnonto plays his football next year, with Man Utd seemingly in the driving seat to take him off their hands.

They lead the betting at 2/1, ahead of City who are just behind at 5/2.

Newcastle are also very much in the mix and are 11/4 to splash out on the teenager.

Chelsea are next at 5/1, with the Blues desperate to get their recruitment right after a disappointing campaign so far this term.

There’s no doubt Graham Potter will be backed in the summer – if still in charge – and he could look to proven Premier League experience with a view to the future, too.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are next at 5/1 and 8/1, respectively.

While a move to homeland Italy isn’t ruled out and Milan (8/1) and Juventus (9/1) would seem in the hunt.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Wilfried Gnonto is making a name for himself this season, and with Leeds seemingly well in a relegation scrap, a whole hosts are likely to be queuing up for his signature in the summer.

“But with Man United on the hunt for a striker, it looks as though the Italian youngster could be set for an Eric Cantona-esque switch from Elland Road to Old Trafford.”
