Tuchel also enjoyed impressive periods in Germany with Bayern Munich and in France taking charge of Paris Saint-Germain.

And the 2021 UEFA and FIFA coach of the year will be determined to bring football home again when he takes charge of the Three Lions in January 2025.

But Tuchel won’t be doing it on his own as the German icon will be assisted by some of the best around town.

Tuchel will be reunited with Barry having worked closely together at Chelsea and more recently Bayern Munich.

Liverpool-born Barry is a UEFA Pro license holder and has a significant amount of international pedigree, notably working with Belgian and Portugal at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024 respectively.

The rest of the team is expected to be a combination of both his and FA staff, while England’s current interim manager Lee Carsley said last week that he hoped to return to the position as head coach of England’s Under-21 side.

What has been said?

The 51-year-old will become England‘s third foreign manager after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

Tuchel said: “I am very proud to have been given the honour of leading the England team.

“I have long felt a personal connection to the game in this country, and it has given me some incredible moments already.

“To have the chance to represent England is a huge privilege, and the opportunity to work with this special and talented group of players is very exciting.
