Who is Brittany Fallon’s father Kieran?

Brittany’s dad is the legendary six-time champion Flat jockey Kieran Fallon.

His glittering career was put on hold in January 2008 when he tested positive for a banned substance — resulting in an 18-month ban.

Kieran initially failed a test after Myboycharlie’s success in the Group One Darley Prix Morny the previous August.

France Galop imposed the ban following a B-test sample confirming the original positive test.

He had previously served a six-month ban from June 2006 after testing positive for the metabolite cocaine.

Speaking about the ban, Kieren told the Racing Post: “It’s not a tragedy, you know. Far from it.

“There’s no doubt I’ll bounce back. It’s very silly of people to talk of retirement. I’m young at heart and have many years left.

“I’ll use the duration of the ban to get back on track, and when I do come back I’ll be stronger, both mentally and physically.”

Keiren launched an appeal against the ban which was heard the following month and subsequently upheld.

He returned to the sport in September 2009 and made his comeback at Lingfield.

In June 2016, Kieren retired from horse racing aged 51 after announcing that he had been diagnosed with severe depression.

Cieren is Brittany’s twin brother — they were born within minutes of each other on June 17, 1999, making them 25 years old.

He has followed has followed in his father’s footsteps to become a professional jockey.

The siblings have always been very close and in 2020 it was reported that Brittney would drive her brother to the racetrack when he was competing.

When Oisin Murphy was banned for 14 months in 2022 after admitting breaking Covid rules, this opened the door for Cieren to jump into the saddle — he had been Murphy’s understudy since August 2020.

In the summer of 2021, Cieren had his first Royal Ascot winner on the Roger Teal-trained Oxted in the King’s Stand Stakes.

Victory there was worth £198,485 to connections and came a year after his first Group 1 success on the same horse in the July Cup at Newmarket.

The jockey told Sun Racing: “I’m delighted, it’s a great opportunity to show what I can do and one I need to jump into with both hands. It’s a nice confidence booster.

“I’ve ridden plenty of winners for them already but the pressure does ramp up a bit now, there are lots of nice horses to ride, it’s a big step up.”

Cherchi was an apprentice to Marco Botti and rode more than 100 winners in Britain before moving to Australia at the start of the 2024.

The jockey was placed in intensive care with a serious head injury and internal bleeding after his mount fell during a race at Canberra on March 20, 2024.

Cherchi’s girlfriend Brittany flew to Australia to be at his bdside while he was in intensive care.

A post from NSW Jockeys confirmed on April 3: “With deep sadness, the Cherchi family have announced their beloved son Stefano passed away peacefully today.

“The family are very grateful for the love, prayers & messages sent by the racing community across the world.”

Horse trainer Marco Botti, who was largely based with Cherchi during his time in Britain, said on X: “Today is an absolutely heartbreaking day for us all, but Stefano will always be with us.

“His charming character and smile can never be forgotten. Our thoughts are with the Cherchi family and his close friends.”
