LUKE LITTLER has been the standout star of this year’s World Darts Championships – and he is all set for a last-16 challenge.

The 16-year-old put in a remarkable performance on his tournament debut beating Dutchman Christian Kist in the opening round at Ally Pally.

Littler sailed through winning 3-0 on sets against an experienced pro who boasts a world ranking of 91st.

Since then, Luke wowed darts fans by beating Christian Kist and UK Open champion Andrew Gilding, before continuing his dream with a triumph over Matt Campbell.

But his biggest test could now come in the round of 16.

Luke Littler’s last-16 match will take place TOMORROW – Saturday, December 30.

The teenage sensation is set to face darts legend Raymond van Barneveld – arguably his toughest test yet.

It is scheduled to get underway at 8:55pm GMT.

Barneveld hilariously revealed that he was playing with Playmobil when he was Littler’s age.

But after brushing Jim Williams aside with ease, the five-time World Champion will have the taste for success when he comes up against Littler.

What did Luke Littler say after his World Darts Championship debut?

Littler was understandably in high spirits after his first round triumph, he said: “If I average 106 in every game from now on, I’ve got a chance.

“All the nerves are out of the way now. This ranks at the top. It was crazy to see little kids with my own top on.

“It was a massive experience. The crowd were always singing. I’m glad they were on my side and it helped me get over the line even more.

“I couldn’t sleep on Tuesday night as I was so excited for this match.

“Walking on, I was nervous but when I stepped on to the stage, I said: ‘Wow.’ I didn’t want to go into my own shell. I wanted to be myself and I did.

“I will treat myself to a kebab. Get myself some bottles of Coke and bottles of Fanta.”
