He signed for Ajax in 2015 and in 2019 his transfer to Barcelona was confirmed.
In the summer of 2022, De Jong was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United but the Red Devils were unable to secure the player as he decided to stay at Xavi‘s team.

What is Frenkie De Jong’s salary at Barcelona?
De Jong agreed to a £400,000-a-week salary when he joined Barcelona in 2019.
He has, however, since taken several wage reductions due to the La Liga team’s financial crisis.
His initial salary was worth £12m a year before it was reduced to £9m in the 2020/21 season.
De Jong took a further pay cut the following year, earning £4.3m.
Barcleona are now required to pay those deferred wages to the player on top of his existing salary.
As a result, De Jong will take home £16.8million net in the 2022/23 season, followed by up to £21m in the following campaign.
The midfielder spoke out about the controversy surrounding his whopping salary packet in October 2022.
Speaking to TV NOS, via Mundo Deportivo, De Jong said: “There have been many lies and falsehoods spread about my salary.

Barcelona are said to owe Frankie De Jong £14.5m.
According to Mundo Deportivo, however, the club want the player to agree to another salary reduction amid their ongoing financial problems.

If he refuses another salary decrease, the team could be forced to sell him.
Barcelona are reportedly desperate to re-sign Lionel Messi, whose time at Paris Saint-Germain appears to be winding down.
PSG could be set to allow his contract to expire, giving Barca chiefs the opportunity to pounce.
