He began his professional career at Real Madrid, after joining the academy in 2006 aged eight.

Hakimi found opportunities at the club hard to come by, and he was loaned to Borussia Dortmund in 2018.

He enjoyed a successful two seasons with Dortmund, helping the team the 2019 DFL-Supercup with a 2-0 win against Bayern Munich.

Hakimi signed for Inter Milan on a permanent transfer in 2020, and cemented his claim as one of the world’s top full-backs, helping Inter win the 2021 Serie A title.

It was the first time since Inter had won the league title since the 2009/10 season, and the first time since 2010/11 that the Scudetto had not been won by Juventus.

He signed for Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, winning the Ligue 1 title at the end of the 2021/22 season.
