Lampard, 44, was appointed as Chelsea’s interim manager following the sacking of Graham Potter.
However it has not been the dream start to life at Stamford Bridge for the boss in his second stint in charge of the team.
Chelsea have lost all three games under Lampard, including the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.
The Blues have the second leg of the tie at Stamford Bridge this week but will have to overcome a two-goal deficit.
But Fofana, 22, is feeling positive working with Lampard and has admitted that the squad have been “moved” by his words.
He told Téléfoot: “He was welcomed back in the best way possible, because he’s Mr. Frank Lampard.
“He’s a club legend. He told us to get our confidence back, and play simple football again
“To get back to the basics, really.

“His words moved us all, because it’s what we needed, to get our confidence back.
“And to realise that we’re fighting for a club. We’re fighting for a great club.”
Fofana arrived at Chelsea last summer after a £70million move from Leicester City.
But he has insisted that the pressure of the large transfer fee is not getting to him.
He added: “I’m trying to see the good side to it.
“I’m a Chelsea player, I will give my life for this club.”
