Wayne Rooney gives cheeky smile as he cryptically reveals ‘we all know changes are coming’ at Man Utd

WAYNE ROONEY believes “changes” are coming at Manchester United following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover.

The British billionaire completed his purchase of a 25 per cent stake of the club earlier this month.

As part of the deal, he has now taken over football operations at Old Trafford.

Discussing his former club’s fortunes on BBC One after their FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest, Rooney was optimistic for the future.

Rooney said: “I think it’s a big month for Manchester United, we all know there are going to be a few changes coming.”

Saturday’s late defeat to Fulham had further raised question marks over his position as manager.

However, United are now just two matches from an FA Cup final after beating Forest to set up a quarter-final clash with Liverpool.

That has not stopped Rooney from speaking of his desire to manage his old side in the future, though.

During his punditry appearance, the 38-year-old added he dreams of taking charge of either United or Everton in the next 10 years.

He explained: “Managing Manchester United or Everton is the aim, these big jobs are where you want to get to.

“But it’s a process. I have got to go through the steps and get myself back on track.

“I want to get myself back into management to make sure in the next 10 years I’m hopefully in a position to go into one of the big jobs.”

Rooney has been out of work since he was sacked by Birmingham in January.
