And Brian Pillman Jr, who now competes as Lexis King in the company’s developmental brand NXT, is another.
However, no-one was expecting to see the arrival of Ethan Page on Tuesday as the 34-year-old took everybody by surprise.
NXT champion Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans defeated The Gallus in the show’s main event just seconds before the real drama unfolded.
In the aftermath of that match, Meta-Four member Lash Legend confronted Williams over the unknown attacks on his stablemates, Noam Dar and Oro Mensah.
The title holder vehemently denied the accusations before the lights suddenly went out.
But when they came back on, Williams had appeared and soon laid out Williams in a vicious assault.
He then revealed himself as the mastermind behind the earlier assaults on the Meta-Four men before he grabbed the NXT championship and lifted it above his head as the show ended.
He then broke his silence after the shock debut on X by mocking Williams by using his new rival’s own popular catchphrase.
He wrote: “I guess I whooped that Trick.”
Fans had already swamped social media after his surprise appearance, and it seems that they cannot wait to see his rivalry with Williams unfold.
“Ethan Page is really a great get for WWE,” declared one.
Another wrote: “Ethan Page is so underrated. Even as a singles competitor. Never given an opportunity in AEW. He will thrive in NXT/WWE.”
A third commented: “Ethan Page is an amazing worker, stays in great shape, is phenomenal on the mic, sells tons of toys and has a solid following that goes beyond pro wrestling, and he’s going to make an actual difference in NXT.”
While a fourth said: “Ethan Page in NXT is f***ing crazy, this guy has had the potential to be a superstar.
“It’s about time someone gives him the chance to show that potential.”

And a fifth added: “Ethan Page vs Trick Williams is going to be CRAZY.”
Page joined AEW in 2021 after working for Ring of Honor and Impact before that.
His last match came on Collision last July when he suffered defeat to then AEW world champion MJF.
He then appeared in AEW’s sister company ROH but had not been seen since December, while in May his profile was removed from both companies websites as his tenure with the companies.
Several outlets are reporting that he was at WWE’s Performance Center last week to finalise his deal to join them.
