Watch ex-Prem ref Mike Dean go from ecstasy to agony as his horse finishes second but fans all fixated on something else

MIKE DEAN was the centre of attention when watching his horse be pipped to first place at the St Leger Festival.

But despite the exhilarating finish to the race, fans were more interested in something else they’d spotted.

Mike Dean was getting excited as his horse looked as though it was going to win

He shouted on from the sides as it fell behind in the race

Dean was ultimately left disappointed as his horse finished second

Dean is a co-owner of the horse Jump The Gun as part of a syndicate and was present to watch it race today.

And it was almost a dream race for Dean and his horse as it came second after an exhilarating final stretch.

The former Premier League referee could be seen hopping up and down and shouting words of encouragement, but ultimately to no avail after losing out on the first place £11,500 prize.

However it’s not all doom and gloom for Dean and his co-owners as they still walked away with a tidy £5,438 for their horse’s efforts.

Speaking after the race, Dean said: “[The horse] put the blinkers on today for the first time and ran a cracker so I’m really pleased.

“Thought it was just going to get there [to first place] but I’m so pleased we’ve had a good race. Made up.”

But despite all the excitement around the race there was something else that caught the eyes of fans on social media.

Many seemed to think that the 55-year-old ex-official has had his teeth done since putting his feet up to enjoy retirement.

One wrote: “Has Mike had his teeth done?!!!!”

Whilst another added: “Jesus, Mike Dean has had his teeth done.”

A third likened his new look to that of radio and TV personality Rylan Clark, they joked: “Has he been to Rylan’s dentist?!”

Dean also paid tribute to a fellow sporting icon in Frankie Dettori, who will be racing in his final St Leger on Saturday.

He stood beside and signed a giant card race sponsors Betfred had made for the Italian, writing: “What a man. Good luck. Mike Dean.”
