Undertaker-turned-trainer Paul Robson airlifted to hospital after freak accident leaves him with broken pelvis and spine
TRAINER Paul Robson was rushed to hospital after a horse fell on him while he was out riding.
The 41-year-old was airlifted to Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle on Thursday.

He has sustained a multiple fractures to his pelvis and lower back but does not require surgery.
Robson, who is expected to remain in hospital for a couple of weeks, told The Telegraph: “It was a freak accident.
“I was passing my phone to my father on the ground when the young horse I was riding jinked.
“I shot up in the air and landed on my right side but the horse came down on my left side.
“My pelvis and the bottom of my back is broken but I managed to take five or six steps aided today.
“Though I expect to be in hospital for about a fortnight.”
He also thanked the staff who have helped him and revealed he is having three physio sessions per day to regain movement.
Fellow trainer Nicky Richards suffered a similar injury in November and he has contacted Robson to wish him a speedy recovery.
And it has not all been a bad start to the year for him as he celebrated a winner on New Year’s Day at Musselburgh with Okavango Delta.
Robson recently stepped back from the day-to-day running of his funeral directors in Hawick to concentrate on the races.
His wife Steph is looking after the business while he is in hospital.
