UFC 300 fears as Hall of Famer reveals shock main event bid was made by Dana White’s No.2 as scramble continues
JON JONES has claimed the UFC reached out to him about headlining UFC 300 – despite his recent surgeries.

UFC bigwig Dana White hasn’t had it easy trying to put together the card’s showpiece bout, the announcement of which fight fans around the world are eagerly awaiting.
The promotion’s president and CEO recently revealed there have been plenty of “twists and turns” and “crazy f*****g” ongoings in his bid to finalise the main event, one of which saw included CBO Hunter Campbell quizzing Jones about his availability.
The UFC heavyweight champion and Hall of Famer told Submission Radio: “I got a call from Hunter Campbell, one of the head lawyers of the UFC.
“He said, ‘Jon, I know it’s only nine weeks away, but if there’s any chance you’re feeling up to it.’
“‘It would be awesome news for the community that you’re coming back and headlining one of the biggest events ever.’”
The phone call was a quick one for Jones, who recently underwent back-to-back surgeries on a torn pec and his right elbow.
Recalling his response to Campbell, Jones said: “And, as honoured as I am for the opportunity, I just don’t think I’ll be ready. I just don’t.”
Jones’ torn pec scuppered his Madison Square Garden melee with Stipe Miocic last November, paving the way for Brit Tom Aspinall to claim the interim heavyweight title.

Jones, 36, could very well be back in action late this summer, provided all goes to play with his recovery.
But one thing is for certain, he won’t set foot inside the octagon until he’s “100 per cent” fighting fit.
He said: “So, I’m getting up there in age and I only have a few more events left.
“And I want to give those events my all and make sure that I come back 100 per cent.”
Tickets for UFC 300, which is set to be one of the biggest cards of the decade, are set to go on sale next week.
And White revealed this week that the mystery surrounding the card’s main event could come to an end this weekend.
The 54-year-old said: “I will probably announce it at the press conference this weekend.”
