U.S. Embassy Ghana congratulates Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah for winning MLS title with Columbus Crew 

 The U.S. Embassy Ghana has congratulated Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah after leading Columbus Crew to lift the 2020 Major Soccer League title this season.The 30-year old captained Columbus Crew to win the MLS title for the first time this season as they defeated Seattle Sounders in the finals.Lucas Zelarayan scored a brace in the game and Derrick Etienne rounded up the game with his goal for the new MLS Champions.”Congratulations to Jonathan Mensah for leading his team the Columbus Crew SC through the 2020 season to win the Major League Soccer cup. Ghanaian players Harrison Afful and Emmanuel Boateng also play for the team”, a post on the official page of the U.S. Embassy Ghana indicated.  The team also has two Ghana International Harrison Afful and Emmanuel Boateng who played various roles in the team’s success in the season.Jonathan Mensah made 20 appearances for the Columbus Crew this season.Meanwhile, Jonathan Mensah who captained Columbus Crew to win the MLS title for the first time revealed that it was much more fulfilling to have won the MLS trophy compared to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup he won in 2009.Mensah in an interview with TV3 said, The under-20 World Cup was global even though it was a youth World Cup but I will put this one first because the US league is growing so much and its gaining a lot of attention and great people come into the league.According to the defender, contrary to the perception that the MLS was for retiring players, the norm is gradually changing and his new feat is a testament to that.When Zlatan came into the league, people said he was coming to retire but weve seen what he is doing in Europe at his age so this tells you that the league is not a retiring league and it is gaining more momentum and its a great testament to the job so I will put the championship first.Jonathan Mensah was part of Ghanas Black Satellites team who won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup hosted in Egypt in 2009.
