La Liga side, Barcelona are considering signing Arsenal former captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, on loan during the January transfer window.

Aubameyang’s future at the Emirate is in doubt after he was stripped of his captaincy by the club manager, Mikel Arteta, following a disciplinary breach.

The Gabonese has been training alone and was not included in the squad that defeated Leeds United 4-1 on Saturday.

According to MailOnline, Barcelona is interested in signing Aubameyang but would need to negotiate with Arsenal over Aubameyang’s £350,000-a-week salary due to their difficult financial situation.

Barcelona is in the market for a new striker following the retirement of former Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero.

Arteta when asked if Arsenal would sell Aubameyang said, “All I can say right now is that we have made this decision that, unfortunately, is a really tough one.

“Obviously, if I had to choose I wouldn’t like to be sitting here and talking about this, but we had to do it.”

Asked if Arsenal’s dressing room had accepted the decision, Arteta said: “Well, they accepted the decision. And I think they know because they have committed to it.”

“They have demanded that we want to take our culture, our demands, and who do we want to be as a club and how we want to represent his football club to a different level. And when those standards are not met, you know, then you cannot participate in our daily basics.”
