Ahead of the historic final between Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, Sky cameras caught up with Beckett.
After describing the experience as “unbelievable” and “amazing to watch”, Beckett was quizzed about getting some darts lessons from Mardle.
The 38-year-old nodded his head before saying: “Me and Wayne we’re striking up the bromance actually.”
He then explained: “Me and Romesh (Ranganathan) are doing a show about darts for our show on Sky and we’ve caught up with Wayne.
“We went up with Luke Littler and did some training and catching up with him. So yeah it’s been brilliant.”
Following the interview, Mardle was asked about “his new mate”.
He replied: “I just make celebrity friends, it’s what I do.
“(He’s) Funny guy.”
Littler, 17, beat Michael Smith 10-5 in his semi-final to make the final.
Meanwhile, Humphries beat reigning champion Michael van Gerwen with an identical score.
The Nuke went on to win the final 11-7 to bag the £275,000 prize pot with a nine-dart finish midway through the classic clash to add the cherry on top.
