DYSART ENOS (Fergal O’Brien)

WANTS: 2m-2m4f nov hurdles, decent ground

FERGAL O’BRIEN has a lovely young hurdler on his hands in this five-year-old mare who shone in the bumper ranks last season.

She was very green when winning on debut before stepping up to take a hotter contest at Market Rasen in February.

She then coped well with another sharp hike in class when taking the Grade 2 Nickel Coin bumper at Aintree’s Grand National meeting.

She has a good engine and picked up strongly in the closing stages to win by an impressive nine lengths. She has everything you are looking for in a novice hurdler.

FAMOUS BRIDGE (Nicky Richards)

WANTS: 3m chases, handles soft ground

I’M a big fan of Nicky Richards who knows what he’s doing with chasers particularly and is likely to get a win or two out of this Fame And Glory gelding.

He needed his first couple of runs over fences but ended the season with back-to-back wins at Wetherby and was impressive the second time.

He sees out three miles well and has plenty of leeway with his handicap mark.

The yard also has a fine hurdling prospect in Florida Dreams who is worth keeping an eye on.

FAVOUR AND FORTUNE (Alan King)

WANTS: 2m-2m4f nov hurdles, decent ground

THERE aren’t many horses left running in the famous Hemmings colours but the ones still sporting the yellow and green usually pay their way.

This five-year-old did well in bumpers last season and kicked off this campaign with a good win on his novice hurdle debut at Hereford.

He looks the type to hoover up plenty of minor prizes and has enough quality to pay his way when upped in class by Alan King later in the campaign.

GERRI COLOMBE (Gordon Elliott)

WANTS: 3m-plus with cut in the ground

GORDON Elliott’s second-season chaser could emerge as the only real challenger to Galopin Des Champs in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

He made serene progress in the main last season, finishing by winning the Grade 1 Mildmay Novices’ Chase at Aintree on the bridle.

He is best remembered for his agonising second in the Brown Advisory at the Festival where the line came a stride too soon as he was beaten by The Real Whacker.

That was over three miles and the longer Gold Cup trip will be perfect. He can kick off his campaign by winning at Down Royal today.

GEVREY (Gordon Elliott)

WANTS: 3m-plus on decent ground

WE have already seen what this improving stayer is capable of this season with his game win in the Munster National last month.

He was second in last season’s Irish National and can give that race another real go.

I also think he’s a contender for something like the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival as he has a bit of class to go with his stamina.

He was fourth in the Plate last season over an inadequate 2m4f so the Ultima’s longer distance would be ideal.

If he runs well there he could end up in the Aintree National and he’d be no forlorn hope.

INTHEPOCKET (Henry De Bromhead)

WANTS: 2m4f+, soft ground

HE was superb over hurdles last season, finishing fourth in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle before landing the Grade 1 at the Grand National meeting.

If he’s kept over hurdles he could develop into a top-level stayer as he’s crying out for a longer trip.

But he’s built for chasing and could take his already excellent form to a new level in that discipline. Whatever happens, he has more to offer.

IRANDANDO HAS (Paul Nicholls)

WANTS: Novice hurdles around 2m

PAUL Nicholls has been patient with his French import who runs in the famous John Hales colours.

He was bought after going close in an Auteuil Listed hurdle this time last season and has been given plenty of time at Ditcheat.

That should pay dividends this season and he looks a real prospect in the novice hurdle ranks.

MONVIEL (Harry Derham)

WANTS: 2m4f novice chases, likes soft ground)

THIS six-year-old was useful over hurdles last season, holding his own in the Betfair at Newbury and Sandown’s Imperial Cup.

He has since moved from Philip Hobbs to Harry Derham and showed promise when second on his chasing debut at Newton Abbot last month.

The two miles of that contest looked very much on the sharp side and he can improve when upped in distance.

And should he make an appearance back over the smaller obstacles, he still looks well handicapped.

MORODER (Seamus Mullins)

WANTS: Staying trips, handles any ground

DON’T be alarmed by this nine-year-old being pulled up on his seasonal comeback at Wincanton last week.

He always needs his first couple of runs and did exactly the same last season before winning the Grimthorpe at Doncaster later in the campaign.

He’ll be aimed at the big staying handicaps in the spring again and something like the Scottish National looks right up his street.

UNEXPECTED PARTY (Dan Skelton)

WANTS: Up to 2m4f, cut in the ground

DAN Skelton aimed high with this eight-year-old last season, throwing him in against the likes of Jonbon.

He peformed well enough before breaking his chase duck last month on comeback at Chepstow.

That was an excellent run at Listed level and he enjoyed the testing ground when finishing strongly.

His handicap mark has gone up to 146 for that but he still has plenty of scope to improve and there’s a decent handicap prize in him up to 2m4f.
