NEWBURY hosts the Challow Hurdle Day this weekend as we finish off the year in style.
And our man Templegate is back to preview the card and select his Placepot picks for Saturday’s racing.

To win the Tote Placepot, you need to pick a horse to place in the first six races at any UK, Irish or selected international meeting.
Our man is here to help out and goes through his picks trying to help you land a share of the enormous pot.
The Placepot is a bet where you select a horse to be placed in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting.
You can pick more than one horse in a race – you just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake.
So for staking it’s 2x1x2x2x2x2 which adds up to 32 lines in the Placepot. You can stake what you want upwards from 5p a line which would cost a total of £1.60. 10p a line is £3.20 and so on.
Provided at least one of our horses in each race is placed, we get paid!
Newbury PLACEPOT
LEG 1: Magical Maggie, Mucuna
MAGICAL MAGGIE had 14 lengths in hand at Ludlow last time and can cope with a 7lb rise in the weights.
MUCUNA won four of her five starts last season and has a lot more to offer.
LEG 2: Jeriko Du Reponet
JERIKO DU REPONET came with a big reputation and lived up to it when winning easily on debut for Nicky Henderson here earlier this month. There’s a lot more to come.

LEG 3: Martator, Guy
MARTATOR has been knocking on the door and ran a cracker when a close-up second here just 10 days ago. He seemed to enjoy the drop back to this distance and Venetia Williams’ excellent run of form keeps rolling on.
GUY has dropped to just 1lb higher than his last win and he’s run well a couple of times at Cheltenham this season.
LEG 4: Get A Tonic, Irish Hill
GET A TONIC was impressive when winning by seven lengths over course and distance earlier this month. The handicapper has put him up 8lb but he jumped beautifully and can take another step forward.
IRISH HILL has dropped to below his last winning mark so looks the pick of the Paul Nicholls pair.
LEG 5: Atlanta Brave, Fantastikas
ATLANTA BRAVE looks capable of improvement after an encouraging second at Exeter last time. He enjoyed being stepped up to 3m on just his second spin over fences and this longer trip will help.
FANTASTIKAS was a solid second at Ludlow last time and a repeat of that would be good enough.
LEG 6: Captain Teague, Lookaway
CAPTAIN TEAGUE was a brilliant third in the Champion Bumper last season and kicked off his hurdles career with a Grade 2 win at Chepstow. He then went close in good company at Cheltenham last time and wouldn’t have to improve much to be a major player.
LOOKAWAY ran a belter when second in the red-hot Greatwood at Cheltenham last time on the back of three good wins. He has every chance of hitting the frame.
