Templegate’s Royal Hunt Cup runner-by-runner guide

SONNY LISTON

HIGH on List. Second in this last year but 11lb higher now after a cracking win at Newbury last time. Trip and track ideal, yard in form, each-way again.

SEAN

SEAN not heard. Group 3 winner in Italy who likes this trip and not disgraced at Epsom last time. Plenty of weight for this handicap debut.

KINGDOM COME

COME off it. Solid all-weather form but held here last time. Looks too high in the weights.

HOLLOWAY BOY

NO Boy. Fourth in Jersey Stakes last season and 7f seems to suit better. Modest form this term so needs more.

STREETS OF GOLD

GOLD plated. Ran cracker in Victoria Cup and best form has been over shorter trips. Has pace but not certain to stay.

BESHTANI

BESH bosh. Good form in France over this trip and just pipped on UK debut at Epsom. Cost a packet and can improve under the Doyler.

RAADOBARG

RAA blah. Trip suits but inconsistent and not won since 2022. Down weights but best on soft.

PEROTTO

PER-hotto. Won the 2021 Britannia and took good handicap over course and distance last time. 3lb rise is fair, likes any ground and looks solid each-way.

REAL GAIN

REAL hope. Still 10lb higher than last win but needed comeback and likes this trip. Booking of Buick catches the eye.

TALIS EVOLVERE

TALL Talis. Consistent over this trip and two good runs at Newbury this season. Lightly-raced so has more to come.

COEUR D’OR

COEUR blimey! Big handicap winner in Ireland over this trip twice last year and looks on fair mark. Yard always respected.

BLESS HIM

NOT Him. Veteran, won the Britannia back in 2017 and has gone well in this before. Surely past his best.

PADISHAKH

WHACK Shakh. Showed little on debut for new yard and a tough race for your handicap debut.

THE GATEKEEPER

GATE open. Won the Balmoral over C&D well in October and not seen since a fair run in the Lincoln. Can’t be dismissed but soft ground would be ideal.

ROPEY GUEST

BE my Guest. Often runs well here without winning and went close in Victoria Cup last time. Little high in weights to win but could nick a place.

AERION POWER

Guest posting agency=

POWER surge. Has penalty for Nottm win last week over this trip. Yard in flying form and top jock up so can outrun odds.

BLUE FOR YOU

FEELING Blue. Has been in and out for a while now and showed next to nothing at Epsom last time. Lots to find on form.

THUNDER BALL

BALL burst. Has form in a big field but not shown much this season. This looks a tall order.

CRACK SHOT

ON target. Threat back on better ground. Draw not ideal but could still be progressive.

WILD TIGER

TIGER has teeth. The Godolphin runner has been improving with every race and was impressive when charging home at Goodwood. He has been given another 6lb to carry for that win but will enjoy this extra furlong. His trainer won this in 2022.

MIRSKY

DARK Sky. Inconsistent and put up a modest show at York last time. Needs more to get anywhere near his rivals.

FANTASTIC FOX

FOX off. Came last in this two years ago but went well here in May. All his recent wins have been on the all-weather.

METAL MERCHANT

HOT Metal. Won well here in October and scored in a big field at Newbury in April. Is 6lb higher now but is progressing and won’t be far away.

DAYSOFOURLIVES

HAPPY Days. Tricky ride but has gone close both starts this season at Newmarket. First-time visor may help. Each-way bid.

TEMPUS

TOP Tem. Seventh in this last year and 13lb lower now. Recent form has been modest but may bounce back.

IMPERIAL FIGHTER

LITTLE Imp. Has been struggling for a while and needs more of a drop down weights. Fighter will be waving the white flag.

KING’S CODE

CODE cracked. Does most of his racing over further and was a little way off the pace at Chester last time. Needs a lot more.

DUTCH DECOY

DON’T go Dutch. Best run this season when pipped over this trip at HQ in April. Has been below that since and needs best.

REGHEEB

HEEB-IE jeebie. Has been in decent form over this trip on soft but goes up in class here and may find this too quick.

ELDRICKJONES

MADE a Rick. Hasn’t won on turf since 2021 and best recent efforts have come on the sand. Trip stretches his stamina too.

Templegate’s Royal Hunt Cup tip

WILD TIGER can give trainer Saeed Bin Suroor his third win his red-hot handicap.

He has seen a racecourse just five times — but has already clocked up three wins, including an impressive effort at tricky Goodwood last time.

There is a lot more to come from Oisin Murphy’s mount.

Perotto was in good form here last time and looks a threat along with Metal Merchant who likes the track.
