For example, if you back current favourite Rory McIlroy to win each-way, with 10 places he can be backed at 9/4, 8 places at 5/2 or 6 places at 3/1.

So the less places you pick for yourself, the greater the odds you can claim!

But if you want to be a bit safer with your selection, backing more places will mean shorter odds.

McIlroy looked set to storm past Tommy Fleetwood in the Dubai Invitational last week.

But a sloppy three-putt from 2ft from the Northern Irishman on hole 14 stopped his momentum, before throwing away a lead on 18 when driving into the water.

He is still favourite to win this week, with Fleetwood – who steadied himself well to hang on to victory – second favourite at 9/1 with 6 places (or 8/1 with 8 places, 15/2 with 10 places).

Tyrrell Hatton is also 9/1 with Brian Harman (20/1) next ahead of a cluster of players at 22/1.
