It means Erik ten Hag has already suffered six losses this season.
But United fans were left even more outraged at full time.
That’s because as Red Devils supporters cleared out of the stadium, it exposed hundreds of Galatasaray fans in home seats staying behind to congratulate their team.
Irate United followers demanded to know how it was possible so many away fans had been able to snap up tickets meant for the home side.
And a loophole has now explained why so many Galatasaray fans were present in home sections.
United only prohibited the sale of any home tickets to fans registered with a Turkish address.
And that opened the door for Galatasaray supporters based in the UK and other countries to sign up as United fans, giving them access to thousands of home tickets.
A club source told the Manchester Evening News: “[Measures are in place to’ minimise the risk of infiltration by away fans into home areas, including a prohibition on ticket sales to anyone with a Turkish address.”

Meanwhile, United boss Ten Hag is considering rushing loanee Sergio Reguilon back from injury.
Midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has filled in at left-back for the defeats to Galatasaray and Crystal Palace.
But with a must-win game against Brentford on Saturday, Reguilon could be called upon to play straight after a muscle injury.
Ten Hag said: “There are no excuses. Maybe we have a little unbalance [on the] left side but we can’t make the errors we are making.
“We have to do better, we have to win our games.”
