Shearer fires savage dig at Lineker live on TV ahead of Holland vs France Euro 2024 clash as fans hail ‘mugging off’
ALAN SHEARER stunned Gary Lineker with a savage dig ahead of France’s clash with the Netherlands at Euro 2024.
The pair appeared live in the studio during the BBC’s pre-match coverage on Friday night.

Prior to kick-off, the panel, which also included Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas, discussed Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.
After watching his iconic Cruyff turn in action, Shearer turned to Lineker before remarking: “He turned you too, into a winger and then into a substitute.”
Lineker played under Cruyff during his time at Barcelona, but fell out of favour under his management.
Having initially been signed to play as a striker by Terry Venables, Lineker was played on the right of midfield after Cruyff took charge in 1988.
His struggles in the position ultimately resulted in the England icon losing his place in the team and leaving the following year.
Reacting to Shearer’s quip on social media, one fan wrote: “Shearer just bodied Lineker after talking about the Cruyff turn.”
Another added: “It was really lovely to see Alan Shearer bring Gary Lineker back down to earth about his relationship with Johan Cruyff.”

Shearer’s dig comes just days after Lineker also took aim at a BBC colleague live on air.
The presenter vowed to apologise after accidently insulting Frank Lampard during coverage of Germany’s win over Hungary.
During his three years in Spain, Lineker scored 51 goals in 138 appearances for Barcelona.
His tally included 10 strikes in 38 matches under Cruyff before his move to Tottenham in 1989.
Lineker also won both the Copa del Rey and European Cup Winners’ Cup with the club.

Meanwhile, Cruyff enjoyed two spells as manager either side of a one-month absence in 1991 before leaving the Nou Camp in 1996.
His 11 major trophies as manager included four league titles and the Champions League.
