The punishment is with immediate effect, which means Everton have dropped five places and are now in the Premier League relegation zone – and they are only off the bottom thanks to goal difference.
The Goodison Park club have been punished for breaching profit and sustainability rules after recording financial losses of £44.7m for the 2021-22 season – bringing their three-year total to £124.5m
That exceeds the Premier League threshold, which permits a maximum loss of £105m across three years, by £19.5m.
Their sanction means they are the first Premier League team to be hit with a points deduction for breaching FFP rules – but relegation is not their only fear.

DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN
England striker Calvert-Lewin, 26, has suffered a number of injury issues over recent years.
However, his 50 goals in 190 top-flight appearances for the Blues has led to plenty of interest from elsewhere.
Arsenal were linked, while Italian side Roma are also interested in the star, who is under contract until 2025.

DWIGHT MCNEIL
The former Burnley winger, 23, played a big role in helping Everton to avoid the drop last term.
He signed for £20m in 2022 on a five-year deal, but Newcastle have expressed an interest in the former England U21 ace in the past.
JORDAN PICKFORD
England’s No.1 has been at Goodison since 2017 and has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea over recent years.
And the 29-year-old would no doubt have his choice of clubs should he decide to depart.
But Everton would be able to command a hefty fee for the stopper after he penned a new long-term contract extension earlier this year until 2027.

JARRAD BRANTHWAITE
The 21-year-old defender continues to be chased by Newcastle.
Following loans at Blackburn and PSV, he has become a first-team regular under Dyche.
However, he is another that committed himself to the club until 2027.
AMADOU ONANA
The 22-year-old Belgian international midfielder is one of the first names on the team-sheet for Dyche.
He joined on a five-year contract in August 2022 but his displays have already led to speculation that Manchester United want him.
Everton points deduction
EVERTON have become the first Premier League team to be deducted points for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations for profit and sustainability.
The Toffees’ ten-point hit comes after an independent Commission determined Everton recorded losses of £124.5million as per Premier League regulation calculations over the three years up to 2021-22 – exceeding the permitted £105m limit.
The Goodison Park club have posted financial deficits for five years in a row.
Manchester City are fighting 115 charges of FFP breaches put forward by the Premier League last season.
Only two clubs in Premier League history have been docked points.
Middlesbrough saw three points deducted in 1996-97 for failing to fulfil a fixture against Blackburn.
In March 2010, Portsmouth had nine points stripped for entering administration.
Both Middlesbrough and Portsmouth were relegated following their respective points punishments.
The ten-point deduction drops Everton to 19th in the Premier League table, level on four points with bottom-club Burnley.
JAMES TARKOWSKI
Another one of Dyche’s trusted lieutenants in defence, the experienced 30-year-old England international would be a great addition for a number of teams.
He signed from Burnley in 2022 and is under contract until 2026.
VITALIY MYKOLENKO
The 24-year-old Ukrainian left-back moved to Everton in January 2022 and penned a four-and-a-half year deal.
He has quickly become a fan favourite and would command a decent transfer fee should the club need to raise funds if they fail to beat the drop.
