Ronnie O’Sullivan introduces new ‘policy’ for bitter rival Ali Carter after snot-gate row

RONNIE O’SULLIVAN has implemented a personal “policy” amid a bitter feud with Ali Carter.

The Rocket and The Captain are long-term rivals and their dispute hit the headlines at the Masters earlier this year.

The duo are snot-gate rivals

O’Sullivan shoulder barged Carter as they walked past each other and both later engaged in a war of words in the press.

Adding fuel to the fire, Carter alleged the world No1 violently cleared his nose and labelled him “disgusting”.

It led to O’Sullivan launching an X-rated rant about his enemy.

And in the latest episode of the spat, they have been drawn against each other at the Tour Championships.

Ahead of the clash, O’Sullivan was asked about his feud with Carter.

He told ITV: “I don’t comment on players now, I’ve learnt my lesson.

“There’s no value in it for me, if they say something about me and it becomes a headline.

“What am I actually gaining from this? I’m not actually gaining anything from this.

“I’m happy with my life, my job, what I do and I just want to delete that stuff.

“I just need to make that a policy. As far as I’m concerned it’s not something I want to get involved in ever again.”

Carter said: “I relish the challenge now because he’s the best player to pick up a cue.

“To play him in another quarter-final – I’ve played him in a final this year – I’m in the right place.”

On the snot-gate row, Carter raged: “Anyone with eyesight or a brain can see what’s going on. And it’s disgusting quite frankly.

“No one wants to say anything, do they? Snotting all over the floor and all that.

“I mean it’s outrageous behaviour from a top professional. If it gets swept under the carpet then for me, it’s not good.

“Did we have any words of exchange? No. I’ve got no words for him at all.”

But O’Sullivan had something to say back, sticking his middle finger up and ranting: “I haven’t spoken to him for 20 years. I played with him when he was a kid and shared a lot of stuff with him.

Anyone with eyesight or a brain can see what’s going on. And it’s disgusting quite frankly.

“For him to come out and try to trash talk me like that, do you know what? He can have one of them.

“He can sit on it as far as I’m concerned. I don’t give a f***. You know what he’s like, everybody knows what he’s like. He’s got issues.

“F***ing why has he got issues with me? I’m not having it. I don’t care, grow some balls.

“I don’t give a f***. The more he brings it on, the more I f***ing punish him every time.

“Absolutely. He’s just digging a grave for himself. He needs to sort his f***ing life out.

“Playing snooker against someone like that is a nightmare. He’s not a nice person. It’s not a nice vibe he leaves around the table.”
