Racing sensation and former top jockey makes comeback alongside Grand National legends for Doncaster contest
FORMER racing sensation Sammy Jo Bell is among the legends making a one-off return to the saddle at Doncaster.
Bell, who retired from racing in 2018 aged 27 after hitting the big time at Ascot before a serious injury left her in a wheelchair for weeks, will be in action on Sunday.

She will compete in the Vickers.Bet Leger Legends race on day four of the track’s big St Leger meeting.

The race is being run in honour of paralysed former Grand National hero Graham Lee, who suffered life-changing injuries when unseated in the stalls in a Flat race at Newcastle last November.
Bell has made these much-loved legends races her own, winning another one at Doncaster in December last year after claiming this very race twice.
Former Grade 1-winning jockey Jimmy McCarthy looks the man to beat on Jamie Osborne’s 15-2 market leader Ten Commitments for trainer Jamie Osborne.
Other big names taking part include former Grand National hero Jim Culloty – who recently put his amazing £3.8million property on the market – and legendary French rider Gerald Mosse.
Paul Nicholls’ daughter Megan will take part, as well as dual Group 1-winning jockey-turned-trainer Adrian Nicholls.
While jumps icon Richard Johnson will line up alongside old rival Tom Scudamore in a battle of two National Hunt greats.
The race is due off at 3.45pm and will be run over a mile.

The fan-favourite race will raise funds for the National Racing College, Injured Jockeys Fund and Jack Berry House.
Lee, who won the 2004 Grand National on Amberleigh House, has been undergoing physio in a specialist spinal care unit at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough since his fall.
A JustGiving page set up for him with an initial £100 target has smashed the £200,000 barrier.
Son Robbie recently gave an update on his old man.
He said: “He’s not giving up. We’re hoping his story is not over, hopefully there’s more to tell.”
