Punters ask ‘what in the world has been unleashed here?’ as astonishing filly dubbed ‘mini-Frankel’ wins £500k on debut

THIS absolutely astonishing debut left punters speechless as a rocket filly nicknamed ‘mini-Frankel’ won £500,000 on debut.

One Look was an aptly-named winner of the Goffs Million at the Curragh on Saturday.

Oh, my

One Look (Gleneagles) absolutely dazzles on debut in Europe’s richest juvenile race, the @Goffs1866 Million @curraghrace

Trained by Paddy Twomey and ridden by Billy Lee, she took one glance at rivals and left them for dead with arguably the standout performance of any two-year-old all season.

Introduced at 20-1 for next year’s 1000 Guineas, that price was snapped up within minutes and now she is a general 10-1 chance.

Mind you even that could end up looking big if she goes onto repeat anything like this sort of run in Europe’s richest race for two-year-olds.

There were a load of ‘hefty’ bets on this daughter of Gleaneagles before the off and, smuggled into midfield half-way through the 7f contest, she looked in a good spot.

But as ever in sprints with fields of this size you need a bit of luck in-running.

Lee spotted just the gap he needed and when he hit go on One Look there was zero chance of anyone catching her.

Twomey had toyed with running her in a maiden earlier in the week worth just over £10,000 in all.

His decision to wait for the big one paid off, with victory worth an eye-popping £530,000.

Aidan O’Brien’s City Of Troy gave punters ‘shivers’ with his breathtaking win in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket in July.

That was probably the benchmark for two-year-olds this season – but One Look gave him a run for his money.

And before anyone crabs the form, it’s worth nothing the three horses in behind Twomey’s stable star are rated 101, 96 and 96.

In fact, the runner-up was an O’Brien inmate ridden by Frankie Dettori.

Punters waxed lyrical over One Look, with one stating in reply to a clip of the win: “Christ almighty.”

Another wrote: “The most impressive performance I can ever remember seeing!”

One comment read: “Sweet mother of Jesus that’s some turn of foot.”

And another posted: “What on EARTH has Paddy Twomey unleashed?!”
