A PREMIER LEAGUE cult hero has been brutally sacked as manager just six games into the new season.

Nolberto Solano, 49, was only appointed boss of Blyth Spartans in May after the club had been relegated from the National League North.

The 95-time Peru international, however, was only able to watch over seven games before the axe fell.

A club statement read: “Blyth Spartans can confirm that they have agreed to part ways with Nolberto Solano.

“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Nobby for his efforts while at Spartans.

“Assistant manager David Stockdale will take charge of the squad as the interim manager ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup tie.”

Solano’s tenure did not get off to the best start, as he lost 7-0 to Gateshead in pre-season.

As the season started, Blyth only managed three points from their opening six games.

The team lost three games, which included a 5-2 defeat to Worksop Town and a 4-1 loss to Morpeth Town.

Solano did not win any of his matches in charge of the team.
