Pep Guardiola makes history with Manchester City
Josep ‘Pep’ Guardioa has made it to the final of the UEFA Champions for the first time in ten years after leaving Barcelona and Bayern.
This is a great history for Manchester City as its their first ever appearance in the finals of the Champions League.
The Catalan born coach ensured that his English side Manchester City qualified to their first ever finals of the European Competition at the expense of Paris St Germain.
Manchester City won 4-1 on aggregate after seeing off the
French champions at the Ethiad Stadium in England.
The Citizens won 2-1 in Paris in the first leg and also won
2-0 in Manchester in the second leg. Algerian winger, Rihyad Maherez scored
three out of the four goals for Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola last went to the final of the UEFA Champions
League in 2011 when his Barcelona side beat Manchester United 3-1 at the Wembly
Stadium.
He made history with Barcelona in his first attempt in 2009 when they won all six trophies in club football competitions. The Catalans won 2-0 against Manchester United in Rome to win their third and Pep’s.
Pep has made five attempts with Manchester City to reach the
finals but could only make it up to the quarter final.
Manchester City got to the semi finals of the Champions
League for the first in 2015 with Manuel Pelligrini as Manager. They lost to
Real Madrid at that semi finals.
They have already bagged this current season’s EFL Cup and
look set to wrap up the Premier League trophy this weekend. They also lost to
Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
If City wins the UEFA Champions League, it would be seen as
the best ever season with Pep in charge.
