Olympics 2024 star Kye Whyte stretchered off after horror crash in BMX Racing semi-final in huge medal blow to Team GB

KYE WHYTE has been stretchered off after crashing out of the BMX racing semi-final in Paris.

The Brit was then taken to hospital but “initial reports are positive” on the injury.

Whyte was a huge medal hope for Team GB, having won silver at the Tokyo Olympics.

The cyclist lost control of his bike on the race’s second jump.

He was sent tumbling onto his side in what looked like a painful fall.

Medics immediately rushed to Whyte’s side as they administered first aid.

Whyte was seen being given oxygen as he was stretchered away to help with pain management.

British Cycling confirmed that Whyte has been taken to hospital and said in a statement: “Initial reports are positive but he is being taken to hospital for further assessment. We wish Kye a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him on his bike very soon.”

The cyclist had been struggling with a back injury going into today’s races which he has been struggling with for months.

A GB Cycling spokesperson said: “Following his crash in the BMX racing semi-final, Kye Whyte was assessed immediately by the on-site medical team. 

“This was followed up by further immediate review by Great Britain Cycling Team Dr Nigel Jones who delivered a positive report, with no significant injuries.

“We wish Kye a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him on his bike very soon.”

The crash came in the semi-final’s second run.

Concerned fans were quick to wish Whyte a speedy recovery on X.

One fan tweeted: “Oh no, hopefully he’s ok.”

A second wrote: “That does not look good.”

A third said: “A real shame. Looked a heavy crash. Gutted for Kye, I hope he’s ok.”

While a fourth wrote: “Hope he’s okay ”
