NFL legend JJ Watt invests in Premier League club with wife Kealia with shock ‘retiring from retirement’ announcement

FORMER NFL player JJ Watt has officially unretired from retirement.

The NFL legend announced alongside his wife, Kealia Watt, that they are becoming minority owners of an English soccer club.

The couple revealed they are now part owners of the Championship title winner in the Burnley Football Club in England.

They shared the news on social media with a hilarious video and released a statement with the club on Monday.

“When you invest in a club that’s been around since 1882, you must have great respect for its history and tradition.”

“We understand that not only are we investing in the squad and manager, we’re investing in the town and its people.”

“We take that responsibility very seriously and intend to work hard in earning their trust and support.”

The Watts are investing in an established franchise — Burnley won the EFL Championship last season and is moving to the English Premier League.

Watt retired from the NFL last season and quipped in the video how he needs something to do now.

He jokingly suggested renting a tour bus to drive around and attend all the Taylor Swift tour destinations before announcing the investment.

He even implied he “wants to be Ryan Reynolds,” the co-owner of Welsh soccer club Wrexham AFC.

Watt played 12 years in the NFL between the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals, and many believe he had a hall-of-fame career.

He is one of three players to win Defensive Player of the Year three times in the NFL.

Kealia played for the US women’s national team in 2016 and spent time in the NWSL from 2014-2021 with the Houston Dash and Chicago Red Stars.

The couple got married in 2020 and have one son, Koa.
