Newcastle fans pinpoint moment Trippier’s form fell apart as they identify person who ‘has questions to answer’

NEWCASTLE fans are claiming Kieran Trippier’s form has dropped since clashing with supporters at Bournemouth.

The right-back made a huge error in the build-up to Chelsea’s equaliser in the Carabao Cup quarter-final before missing a penalty in the shoot-out.

Trippier also made two big mistakes in the 3-0 defeat to Everton two weeks ago and was beaten by Son Heung-min for both Spurs’ first two goals in a 4-1 defeat the following match.

Some Toon fans now believe they have pinpointed the moment his form started to dip.

At the end of Newcastle’s defeat to Bournemouth at the beginning of last month, Trippier went over to the away section to applaud the travelling fans.

But he was instead met with abuse from some portions of the crowd so the England star reacted by pointing out the injury crisis that has hit the team.

Responding to the angry fan, Trippier shouted: “Are the lads not giving everything? How many injuries have we got, how many injuries have we got? Hey?”

The Newcastle fan involved has since apologised for his role in the row but his fellow supporters are not happy as they feel the exchange has sparked Trippier’s downfall.

One Toon fan said: “Trippier has not been the same since the vile abuse At Bournemouth. Newcastle fans with questions to answer. Is this a way to treat one of yah better players?

“Confidence is shattered thus resulting in mistakes. Be hell on in the big market tonight.”

Another added: “I blame the fan that had a go at Bournemouth, Trippier has looked lost ever since.”

A third wrote: “By the way that idiot who abused trippier at Bournemouth needs a clip. Since then it’s like he has forgotten how to play football cruel cruel game.”

But another fan had a different view, as he tweeted: “Trippier isn’t the same after he insulted his own fans when they played Bournemouth.

“He gifted two goals against Everton, did some mistakes against Spurs, was at fault in the AC Milan game and today too he gifted Mudryk a goal.”
