De Ligt and Mazraoui dined in exclusive Manchester restaurant Sexy Fish after landing in the UK earlier on Monday.

The pair were mobbed by fans asking for autographs outside of the swanky establishment and happily stood for photographs too.

The players were joined by friends and family with De Ligt walking in hand in hand with wife Annekee Molenaar.

Sexy Fish is an Asian restaurant and a popular choice among Manchester’s set of footballers, the establishment serves fine dining delicacies ranging from Oysters to Waygu beef.

De Ligt and Mazraoui were Ten Hag’s top targets after the £52m arrival of Leny Yoro from Lille and the £34m arrival of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna earlier this summer.

The move will also see Aaron Wan-Bissaka complete his transfer to West Ham.

An announcement for the signing of the Bayern new-boys now appears to be imminent.

Earlier that day, the two had completed medicals at United’s Carrington training base.

Why De Ligt is the perfect Man Utd signing

By Lee Scott

One of Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag’s biggest headaches has been fixing their leaky defence.

Despite still not being anywhere near his peak years De Ligt has built considerable experience so far in his career with Ajax, Juventus and Bayern Munich and he has 45 caps at senior level for the Dutch national team.

While he is not necessarily a highly modern ball playing type of defensive player he is a player with the defensive strengths and instincts to help shore up a United defence that was, at best, leaky last season.

He has a great ability to read the game which was one of the biggest issues that we saw from the United defensive unit last season.

De Ligt is also a master in one-on-one situations, who shows strength and intensity in his duels.

The Dutch star does a good job in keeping things simple and tends to make good decisions in possession.

The pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt makes perfect sense for United and for Ten Hag as a young defender who is still to reach his peak.

He has considerable experience at a high level and he understands the game model and system of play of the manager.

Both men are familiar with Erik ten Hag, having played under United’s boss in Amsterdam for several seasons.

The move will see them join fellow ex-Ajax stars Andre Onana, Antony and Lisandro Martinez at Old Trafford.

With United struggling with injuries across their backline, the two could be in-line to make their debuts on Friday night against Fulham in the Premier League opener.

In another boost for United, captain Bruno Fernandes looks set to sign a new contract that will see him finish his career with the club.

Doubts had emerged over the captain’s future amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

Fernandes had also hinted at quitting at leading United to FA Cup glory against Man City.
