National League match SUSPENDED after star suffers suspected broken leg

A DRAMATIC National League clash between Gateshead and Woking was suspended after one star appeared to suffer a broken leg.

Chaos erupted at the Lainthwaite Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon as players fought the stewards after Gateshead’s Greg Olley faced a nasty tackle.

Just 14 minutes into the game, Woking’s Dion Kelly-Evans clashed with Gateshead’s Olley.

The severity of the tackle is believed to have left the midfielder with a broken leg.

And as a result the referee promptly issued a straight red card to Kelly-Evans.

As tensions escalated, an altercation erupted between players and stewards.

For Olley’s well-being, the referee decided to suspend the match.

The players were forced off the pitch, and the game remained halted for 40 minutes.

During the suspension, Olley was taken away in an ambulance.

As the game resumed Gateshead’s Kenton Richardson struck the back of the net opening the scoreline for the away side.

Then in the second half, Mark Benk’s goal sealed Gateshead a 2-0 victory against Woking.

Olley’s disastrous leg injury wasn’t the only one on Saturday.

In Nottingham Forest’s season opener against Bournemouth midfielder Danilo also suffered a broken leg after landing awkwardly following an aerial challenge.
