And Arsenal appear ready to offer their biggest managerial contract ever to leave Arteta as one of the Premier League’s highest-paid coaches.

Pep Guardiola earns a huge £20million a season at Manchester City.

And according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are ready to bump Arteta’s salary closer to that figure.

It would over DOUBLE the £9m-a-season wage the Spaniard is already on.

Erik ten Hag is on similar wages at United while Unai Emery now earns £8m after penning a new five-year Aston Villa deal.

Arteta has led the North Londoners to two consecutive second-place finishes, losing out only to Guardiola’s City.

And Arsenal deem their former captain as the man to take the club forward over long period like Gunners great Arsene Wenger.

Arteta won the FA Cup in 2019 and after picking up the Globe Soccer Awards’ nod for best Premier League coach, he insisted more is to come.

He said: “We built for a few years. Right now, we have a team that is full of enthusiasm and so hungry to win trophies.

“We know the competition – but we believe we can do it, so we are going to give it a real go.

“I feel extremely proud, because when I decided to stop my career as a football player, I thought that all the joy and the best moments of football were gone.

“And I was totally wrong, because when I started my coaching and managerial career, I am loving it even more.

“I feel so passionate about it and I have to thank all the players, the coaching staff and everybody involved at the football club to make my days so enjoyable, so inspiring and for supporting me in this journey that we started four years ago, that is hopefully going to take us right to the top to win many trophies.”
