Meet the MP dubbed ‘world’s hardest politician’ after swapping MMA cage for the Commons who’s set for charity fight

WILL STONE swapped the cage for the Commons earlier this year, becoming the MP for Swindon North after the general election.

Now, he is preparing to fight a Mixed Martial Arts professional.

ITVStone is set to put his MMA training to the test in a charity fight against Matt Inman[/caption]

Stone, 43, has practised Brazillian jiu-jitsu for 17 years and is also a black belt in judo.

He trained 15 times a week before jumping into the world of politics.

The Labour MP is now going back to his roots ahead of a huge charity fight against MMA pro Matt Inman.

Discussing the bout with ITV News, Stone said: “I’m not scared.

“I think I can win. I’ve probably got a 20 per cent chance of winning.

“Matt is a very established fighter. He’s good but I’m strong in certain positions.

“So if I can get on his feet I’ve got a chance.”

Stone, who previously worked as a rifleman in the British Army, believes his experiences have made him strong enough for a career in politics.

He continued: “Both the army and competing in jiu-jitsu makes you quite robust, and I think that’s very important for an MP because it is an arduous job.

“Jiu-jitsu is live action problem solving. So I’m trying to submit my opponent while they’re trying to submit me.

“So you have to think on your feet constantly. And I think that’s useful in politics. You’ve got to be malleable for both.”

Discussing his training ahead of the fight, Stone added: “I’m getting about one session in a week, but I’m doing strength and conditioning… So I’m keeping my body strong.

“But jiu-jitsu; I used to do 15 classes a week – I can’t do that now.”
