NEWCASTLE bolstered their ranks with a signing outside the transfer window earlier this season.

Needing a winger, the Toon gave an ex-West Ham starlet a call.

After an impressive two-week trial, the 20-year-old hopeful earned a contract.

And Amadou Diallo hasn’t looked back since.

The talented winger has represented England at youth level and is hoping to achieve big things at St James’ Park.

Diallo previously spent a decade at West Ham, but found himself without a club last summer.

A trial with Chelsea, a club renowned for their brilliant academy, followed before he was invited to train with the Toon.

Explaining how the move came about, Diallo told the Chronicle: “Newcastle needed a winger, they got in touch with my agent and I came down for a two-week trial.

“I played one game, they liked what they saw and offered me a contract.

“They just said to express myself, to play my normal game as I’d done well to get signed.

“Be positive with the ball, take my man on, get involved in goals. It’s similar to West Ham.

“It’s a humble club, everyone works hard and the staff are good with their players. Everyone is open to speak to everyone, it’s been good.

“It’s really exciting, especially to see what the first-team are doing. It’s motivation for me to keep playing well, and wait for my opportunity if it comes.”

Diallo impressed Eddie Howe while training with the first team, and also sought the advice of a senior Toon star.

He added: “It’s good to get involved, they’re obviously high up in the table so to train with that calibre of players is good to learn from.

“When I went there, the first thing I did was speak to Joelinton who helped me out through the whole session.”
