MANCHESTER UNITED will out on the top four this season, unless they break a 100-year omen.

The Red Devils are celebrating their 100th season in the top flight of English football, and they will hope to make 2024/25 a memorable one.

It’s a feat only four other English giants have achieved.

However, the omen in question will mean they must break a curse no other club has been able to reach yet – finishing in the top four.

Everton were the first to reach the milestone back in 2002/03, and are celebrating their 122nd season at the top level this season.

Aston Villa are next in that table as they prepare for their 111th top flight year, with Liverpool close behind on 110.

Arsenal were the most recent team to reach the feat in 2016/17 and are now on 108.

But none of these sides were able to breach the top four of English football in their century-making campaigns.

In fact, the best any of Man Utd‘s centurion predecessors performed was Arsenal coming in fifth place.

Everton ended their 100th top flight season down in seventh, while Aston Villa were ninth in 2010/11 and Liverpool were eighth in 2011/12.
