MANCHESTER UNITED were unable to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League after falling to defeat against Crystal Palace.

Joachim Anderson’s first-half stunner saw United go behind against the run of play in the first half.

And a frustrating second half would follow, with United being denied by an in-form Sam Johnstone and another dodgy penalty call before the game ended 1-0 to the visitors.

It means United have now lost four of their opening seven matches in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag will have food for thought after today’s match, with some established starters having their position under scrutiny.

Here’s how SunSport’s Martin Blackburn rated the Red Devils.

ANDRE ONANA – 6

Could not be blamed for the opening goal as Andersen’s effort zipped past him.

Beat away a shot from Hughes second half but a largely quiet afternoon.

DIOGO DALOT – 6

Good tackle early on to deny Schlupp. Lovely cross from the right but Mount could not direct it on target.

Not the worst player in Red by any stretch.

RAPHAEL VARANE – 5

Brilliant tackle on Mateta as Wolves searched for a second. Late header was directed just inches wide.

Sacrificed late on to get Maguire on.

VICTOR LINDELOF – 6

Going to be needed more often with Martinez sidelined once again.

Did his bit defensively and almost created a late equaliser for Hojlund but the forward slipped.

SOFYAN AMRABAT – 5

Struggled as a makeshift left-back despite impressing there on Wednesday. Foul on Ayew conceded free-kick for goal.

Shot against the bar in the second half though it may not have counted anyway.

MASON MOUNT – 5

Anonymous first half from the England man but made more impact after the break – missed a golden chance with a header.

Didn’t do enough to avoid being hooked.

CASEMIRO – 5

Had some of the best chances as he came within inches of equalier with long range shot – then headed corner across goal.

Needed to make those count.

FACUNDO PELLISTRI – 5

Young Uruguayan handed a rare start but could not provide the spark down the right.

Ten Hag bowed to the chants from the fans to bring Garnacho on around the hour.

BRUNO FERNANDES – 6

Clever pass to Pellistri almost opened up the visitors. Long range effort tipped over by Johnstone.

Skipper at least tried to get his team going in the second half.

MARCUS RASHFORD – 5

Made the wrong decision almost every time in the first half. Had a couple of sights of goal but always closed down.

No surprise when he was subbed.

RASMUS HOJLUND – 5

Missed header from free-kick across goal proved costly as it led to Andersen scoring.

Slipped when he had a decent late chance which summed up United’s day.

GARNACHO for Pellistri 60 – 7

Lifted united after his introduction but could not save them.

MARTIAL for Mount 77

Did not really get a clear chance.

ERIKSEN for Rashford 77

A couple of moments of quality but could not break down Palace.

MAGUIRE for Varane 88

Pushed forward in search of equaliser.

VAN DE BEEK for Lindelof 88

Not enough time to make an impact.
