MANCHESTER UNITED rode their luck for most of the game in their 1-0 defeat against Newcastle.

However, when they needed some to fall their way late on there was none forthcoming.

After Anthony Gordon had opened the scoring in the 55th minute, the visitors finally began to look like a threat in the dying stages.

And when Antony had put the ball into the late in the 89th minute, there was a very brief ray of sunshine in a game they were otherwise outclassed in.

However, the spoils were not to be shared equally among the two Champions League strugglers.

And that was because Harry Maguire, one of the Red Devils’ best players on the day, had seen the ball strike him on the way through towards goal.

Unfortunately, the England man was in an offside position as he was struck with the ball, subsequently seeing the goal ruled out.

Newcastle would then see out the game to clinch a deserved 1-0 win.

Defeat was United’s sixth in 14 games so far this season, and leaves them seventh in the Premier League.
