MANCHESTER UNITED fans think Andre Onana turned into Steven Gerrard against Liverpool.

The stopper started to look like the world-class No1 Old Trafford chiefs thought they had signed at the back end of last season.

Onana’s gaffe was not as costly

But he proved he still has the occasional blunder in him in a pre-season gaffe.

Onana ran out to grab Harvey Elliott‘s wayward pass and went tumbling to the turf.

Luckily there were no Reds players anywhere near him and he was able to gather the ball.

And United fans joked that their keeper’s moment was like Gerrard’s infamous slip against Chelsea – albeit far less costly.

One wrote: “Steven Gerard impersonation goes hard.”

Another added: “Nah Andre Onana isn’t real man.”

A third posted: “At least this slip doesn’t cost us the league unlike your former captain and legend.”

A fourth joked: “Onana is the most unconsciously comical keeper I’ve seen.”

Fabio Carvalho, Curtis Jones and Konstantinos Tsimikas got on the scoresheet.

It hasn’t been all bad for Onana in pre-season.

He pulled off a brilliant piece of skill to sun fans in United’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal to open their US tour.

After receiving the ball from Jonny Evans, he tricked Gabriel Jesus – who was intently chasing down – by feinting to kick the ball long before smoothly turning out.
