Luton 3 Arsenal 4: Declan Rice’s last-gasp header sends Gunners five points clear at top and saves Raya’s blushes

DECLAN RICE’S stoppage-time winner saved David Raya’s blushes and sent Arsenal five points clear at the top of the Premier league.

Raya’s double blunder helped lowly Luton turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 advantage – but Hai Havertz fired the Gunners level before Rice nodded home in stoppage time.

Gabriel Martinelli had steered Arsenal in front from their first real opportunity on 20 minutes.

But Gabriel Osho soon nodded a deserved leveller form a corner.

Gabriel Jesus nodded the Gunners back in from from Ben White’s cross.

But soon after the break Elijah Adebayo nipped in to head Luton level – again from a corner as he punished Raya’s first flap.

Ross Barkley then somehow squirmed in a shot under the same keeper.

But Havertz soon made it 3-3 – leaving Arsenal pressing for a winner.

And just when it appeared they would not get it, Rice struck.

The England midfielder rose well to power home Martin Odegaard’s cross.

And while Rice plus his team-mates went crazy with joy, Luton chief Rob Edwards was left rooted the spot in shock and disappointment.

But although the Hatters fought well enough to be in strong contention even before Raya helped them out, the Gunners still amassed 23 goal attempts compared to Luton’s six.

And Arsenal had twice as much of the ball as the Hatters – albeit only pressing with sustained menace after they fell 3-2 down.
