And that was enough to send the 33-year-old into the semi-finals in Rotterdam.
The Bully Boy had missed a match dart to hand the 17-year-old a chance.
However, Littler could not take out 80 as Smith came back to hit double six.
The high-quality bout saw both players hit four 180s.
And both Smith and Littler also averaged over 100.
It was the ace that took Ally Pally by storm over the festive period that just edged out his rival on average, 102.32 to 100.34.
However, it was the veteran’s superior checkout percentage that secured his passage into the last four.
Littler had topped the table at the start of the night ahead of Humphries.
