Losing jockey hailed for ‘great sportsmanship’ after classy act to winner at Cheltenham Festival

A JOCKEY has been praised as a class act after congratulating the man who beat him in the 2.10 thriller at Cheltenham.

Daryl Jacob, who finished third aboard Bronn, congratulated Sam Twiston-Davies, who rode the winning horse The Real Whacker.

Jacob hugged Twiston-Davies – who held off a brilliant late challenge from favourite Gerri Colombe to win – after the race and fans took to Twitter to praise both riders.

One fan tweeted: “Top class from the Dazzler. There’s great sportsmanship in our sport.”

Another commented: “Ah lads, hats down! Daryl Jacob take a bow!

“What a level of sportsmanship again. Couldn’t be happier for Paddy Neville, made a big move going to England and days like to make it worth while.”

“Paddy Neville all the way through had great support in him, said he was in good nick and fair play he was absolutely spot on.”
