Kyren Wilson ‘roasted’ by crowd for wearing bizarre kitchen accessory at Snooker Shootout then reveals reason behind it

KYREN WILSON has revealed the reason behind his decision to wear an oven glove at the Snooker Shootout.

The world number nine was “roasted” by the crowd during his 71-14 win over Mostafa Dorgham on Friday.

Wilson had worn the bright red oven glove after securing the frame and his victory.

Explaining why he wore the glove, he told Eurosport: “The kitchen were kind enough to lend me it.

“I just thought, this event is so much fun. I got it out when I’d won the frame, I wouldn’t have got it out if I’d needed to win it.

“Everyone wants a good time, it’s the weekend, so why not bring it out?”

The crowd in Swansea appeared to see the funny side as they taunted Wilson during the match.

He added: “I kept hearing someone [in the crowd] shout, ‘Don’t forget the roast!’ So, I’m cooking a roast apparently.

“Listen, it’s Friday, we all wanna have a good time, so I’m just enjoying myself.”

The Warrior later teased he would be selling his own range of oven gloves on social media.

In a post shared to X, formerly Twitter, he uploaded a pair with his logo and nickname printed onto them along with the eyes and glove emojis.

Wilson will now take on David Lilley on round three on Saturday, the final day of this year’s Snooker Shootout.

It is not the first time Wilson has worn a glove during a match, though, after covering his hand at the British Open in September.

He later explained he had done so to avoid getting a sticky hand after donning a black glove on his bridge hand in a clash with Barry Hawkins.
