Kieran Trippier wanted by Bayern Munich as German giants plot shock January transfer raid on Newcastle

NEWCASTLE UNITED star Kieran Trippier is reportedly a transfer target for Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga champions already have two England internationals at the club having splashed out £104m to sign Harry Kane last summer.

They then raised eyebrows by raising Tottenham again this month to bring in defender Eic Dier.

Now Chronicle Live claims that boss Thomas Tuchel is looking to secure his own Three Lions in Germany with a move for Trippier.

They claim that the 33-year-old is seen “as a potential signing”.

Trippier, who also played alongside Kane and Dier at Tottenham, is still close friends with the striker.

And with Bayern openly looking for a right-back in this window, he has emerged a shock target.

Tuchel confirmed: “We are looking for a right-back who is strong in duels. We’ll see if something is possible.

“Nous Mazraoui is at the Africa Cup, but we have also gotten used to Konrad Laimer at right-back, even though it’s not his best position.

“If there’s an opportunity on the market, we’ll take it. Otherwise things will stay this way.”

Trippier has been a huge hit at St. James’ Park since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in January 2022.

The experienced ace will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer.

And just like with Brazilian star Joelinton, Newcastle may decide to cash in rather than risk losing him for a reduced fee or potentially nothing.

The Magpies have already stated that every player has a price due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Eddie Howe would no doubt be very reluctant to lose Trippier, who has proven to be the catalyst for the club’s rise under him, but he does Tino Livramento as a ready-made replacement.
