Mourinho has been thrown out the exit door by the Serie A side after a two-and-a-half year stint in charge at the Stadio Olimpico.
And just an hour after the statement was released Mourinho’s right-hand man Salvatore Foti was said to be “nearly in tears” when he arrived at the club’s training ground in Trigoria.
Foti was hired as the Portuguese boss’s assistant in January 2022 after the exit of Joao Sacramento.
And with the 60-year-olds turbulent spell in Rome which has been marred by his ill-discipline on the touchline.
He received six red cards in the last two seasons – more than any player in Serie A.
This saw Foti on more than one occasion fill in his boots in the dugout.
With one of Foti’s most impressive victories being a 1–0 win at the Stadio Olimpico against Juventus in March last year.
Roma’s American owners, Dan and Ryan Friedkin, were said to be “highly unhappy” with results under Mourinho this campaign, according to a report by Calciomercato via Football Italia.

Mourinho struggled in Serie A, finishing sixth twice in his two full seasons in charge.
And has now faced his sixth sacking in his career as Roma are currently ninth in the table this term.
Roma legend Daniele De Rossi will take Tuesday’s training session, according to the report.
In fact, the former midfielder is set to be named as Mourinho’s successor.
De Rossi will take charge until June, with his contract including an option to renew based on achievements and results.
