Jockey treated on track after horrible mid-race fall thankfully walks away OK at Aintree Grand National Festival

A JOCKEY was treated on the track for ten minutes after suffering a horrible fall on day one of the Grand National Festival.

TV cameras showed the screens usually reserved for horses being put up during the running of the Foxhunters’ Chase for amateurs.

A video posted online showed two jockeys, Ben Sutton and Alex Chadwick, falling from their horses at the third.

The racegoer who uploaded the clip said one of the jockeys – believed to be Chadwick – was treated for ten minutes.

They were receiving medical attention when the horses came round on the second circuit.

And Ed Chamberlin said on ITV Racing an ambulance was in position in case they needed to be rushed to hospital.

Three jockeys – Lois Teal, David Maxwell and Harry Myddleton – were unseated in the race for amateur jockeys.

But it was later reported Chadwick was thankfully seen walking away from the scene of the fall.

And the horses were unharmed too.

After two tragic deaths in racing over the past week it was a relief to see all riders walk away with a few bruises but otherwise OK.

And a reminder of the risks these jockeys face every time they take to the track.

The 2m5f race run over the Grand National fences was won by 3-1 favourite Its On The Line.

And this was not the only controversial flashpoint on a day kind to punters.

Rachael Blackmore was involved in a 20-minute stewards’ enquiry into a thrilling three-way photo finish.

She was ultimately ruled to have finished second on Bob Olinger by a nose, despite appearing to have been interfered by Langer Dan.

He in turn looked to have got a nudge from eventual winner Impaire Et Passe.

The Racing TV presenting crew were among the many who appeared to disagree with the call.

Respected host Nick Luck said: “We are unanimous that is the wrong decision.”
