A JOCKEY copped a huge ban after putting Tom Marquand in hospital as this race descended into total carnage.

The top British rider was competing at Randwick racecourse in Australia when he came crashing down.

When you look at this carnage just a miracle @TomMarquand only needs to recover with a few dips in a cold lake with me! Get fit soon Tom! pic.twitter.com/Cjb5tXXLkv

Marquand was left in a pile on the track after his horror fall

The jockey was instantly KO’d and had to be taken to hospital

Marquand, who is married to Hollie Doyle, got tight for room after rounding the bend for the final straight.

A rival horse and jockey shifted violently left, making Marquand and his mount a sandwich in a melee of charging horse.

Marquand fell from his two-year-old horse Dorothy Gail and footage showed him spiralling across the track before coming to rest.

Four jockeys were subsequently hauled in for questioning to determine what the heck had gone on.

One of those, Josh Parr, aboard Hellish, pleaded guilty to careless riding and was banned for 20 meetings.

Marquand, 24, was KO’d in the smash and taken to hospital for further tests.

Fortunately his horse was believed to be unhurt in the fall.

Marquand is set to spend weeks on the sidelines as the full extent of his shoulder injury becomes clear.

He has already had to cancel a schedule trip to race in Qatar later this week.

The multiple Group 1-winning rider said: “I’m pretty sore, I can’t lie.

“I’ve had a CT scan on it and that was clear but something is not right so I’m having an MRI (Tuesday) to properly delve into it.

“I’ve had injuries I’ve pushed through before but this doesn’t feel right.

“I wouldn’t be doing anyone any justice if I was going out and getting on a horse.”

“Hopefully it is nothing too serious, it will be a quick rehab and I can get back into the saddle.

“But I think by the look of it I could be out for a few weeks but I will know more after I see the specialist on Wednesday.”
