James Ward-Prowse transfer news: Liverpool trailing Newcastle and Tottenham, West Ham, Leeds and Aston Villa in behind
PREMIER LEAGUE clubs are queuing up to sign Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse.
And it’s Champions League chasing Newcastle United who are leading the pack for the England international’s signature, according to bookmakers Sky Bet.

Eddie Howe’s side certainly have the financial capabilities to bring Ward-Prowse to St James’ Park, and are available at 2/1 to complete a deal before the transfer window closes in September.
But there’s no shortage of competition.
Tottenham are second-favourites at 4/1 to bolster their midfield ranks ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, narrowly ahead of David Moyes’ West Ham at 7/1.
Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are both locked together at 8/1, with Liverpool and Nottingham Forest further behind at 10s.
Brighton and Leeds share a price of 12/1, while Fulham and Wolves are 14s and Everton are outsiders of the pack at 20/1 should they avoid relegation.

Ward-Prowse, 28, has scored 54 goals and provided 52 assists in 407 appearances since making his debut on the opening day of the 2012–13 season.
But it’s looking likely that this will be his 12th and final campaign with the south coast club after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed over the weekend.
Ward-Prowse is contracted at St Mary’s until June 2026, but the club’s hierarchy are believed to have agreed to sell the player if they dropped into the Championship.
Asked about his future, Ward-Prowse said: “I’m not thinking too far ahead. We’ve just been relegated from the Premier League. I’m not looking beyond tomorrow.
“It’s about sticking together and dealing with it in the right way. Over the last 10 years we have had that kind of consistency and that has wavered.
“It will be testing for everybody but these are the times that make you as a player and as a club, we have done it before and we will do it again.”
