‘It’s brutal… it can make you implode’ – Darts star lifts lid on life behind the scenes on PDC Tour
A DARTS star has revealed the demands of the pro tour can “crush” players and make them implode.
Danny Lauby picked up his first Tour Card in 2024 but has since found results difficult to come by.

The American moved to the UK to take up darts full time but is yet to see success, and has dropped to 78 in the PDC Order of Merit.
He has tried to differ his game in hope of improving results, and has learned that the mental battle is often the most important.
Lauby, 32, told Tungsten Tales: “At that point when you get back to the office and get back home, you think to yourself what can I do? Maybe a little change in your throw or what is it that I can do to be more consistent?
“I’ve learned it’s all mental game and rhythm. I think every player has got every sort of story in some capacity trying to perfect something.
“I think I went through a phase last year where I was kind of trying too hard to find something. You know you’ve got the goods if you’re on the tour so it’s just a mental game.
“It’s brutal but that’s just what it is. It’s the best players in the world.
“It’s what you’ve signed up for. It’s frustrating. It’s nice to walk away from a game with your head held high even if you lost knowing you played well and just got beat.
“It’s another thing walking away knowing you didn’t do yourself justice. So that’s when it’s tough.
“That’s what causes mental issues in the game. It’s people that know how good they are and when they play bad they’re like what went wrong, what happened, how do I fix it?
“That can make you implode, that’s where you get bad mental issues. You start overdoing it in your head, it crushes you as it can be a brutal room to be in.”
